Third TCP magazine Cisco salary survey - see: TCPmag2003

The 2003 salary survey found that “professionals in the 45-to-54 age bracket earned the highest salaries by age group, earning an average of $57,480 annually”. Cisco CCNAs average annual salary was found to be nearly $60,000.

The highest average annual salary for the 54 certifications was the Cisco CCIE at nearly $99,000.

At the low end was CompTIA’s entry-level A+ certification with an average annual salary of nearly $48,000.

In the IT field in general (certified and not certified) of the 136 countries that provided salary data, “Switzerland reported the greatest average salary of $67,470 (USD). The United States followed with average professionals, certified and uncertified, earning $59,090.”

 

Second TCP magazine Cisco salary survey: TCPmag2002

“On the entry-level end of the pay scale, CCNAs reported an average income of $70,000 in 2000. Now they report $64,000 for 2001 and $67,000 for 2002, drops of 8 percent and 4 percent, respectively. “

At the high end “Six-figure days are over for CCIEs...

CCIEs in 2000 reported incomes that averaged $115,000. Those six-figure days are over for now. The average base income for 2001 was about $91,000, a downturn of 21 percent. For 2002, the average will be about $99,000-a downturn of about 14 percent.”
